What are the common faults of shock absorber pistons?
Latest company news about What are the common faults of shock absorber pistons?

As a key component of the shock absorber, the common faults of the shock absorber piston mainly include the following types:

1.Wear and tear: After long-term use, the friction between the piston and the cylinder barrel will cause wear, which may lead to a decline in shock absorption effect. When the wear is severe, the gap between the piston and the cylinder barrel will increase, causing oil leakage.

2. Crack:
Under the influence of strong impact or long-term fatigue, the piston may develop cracks. Cracks can cause the shock absorber to work unstably or even fail completely.

3. Bending deformation:
Under extreme usage conditions, the piston may bend and deform. Deformed pistons can affect the normal operation of shock absorbers, leading to a decline in the performance of the vehicle's suspension system.

4. Surface damage:
Scratches, depressions or other damages may appear on the surface of the piston. These damages will reduce the wear resistance and sealing performance of the piston, and thereby affect the overall performance of the shock absorber.

5. Damaged oil seal:
The oil seal around the piston is responsible for preventing oil leakage. When the oil seal ages or gets damaged, it will cause the shock absorber to leak oil, affecting the shock absorption effect.

6. Jamming:
If the piston does not move smoothly within the cylinder barrel, it may be caused by internal impurities, oil contamination or damaged parts. Jamming can cause the shock absorber to respond slowly or fail completely.

All in all. these malfunctions usually lead to a decline in the performance of shock absorbers, manifested as unstable vehicle driving, increased jolting, abnormal noises and other problems. Regularly checking the condition of the shock absorber piston and promptly replacing worn or damaged parts are the keys to ensuring the normal operation of the vehicle suspension system.
